The Haryana Board of Secondary Education was established in 1969. Board was founded as per Haryana Act No.11 of 1969. HBSE head office is situated in Bhiwani (Haryana) and before this board was at Chandigarh. But this board has been shifted Bhiwani district in January 1981.
